IV. Responding to Terrorism Under the "King’s Justice"

Unlike justifications under criminal law or the laws of war, the King’s Justice,

which derives from the monarch’s royal prerogative, is a much broader method that the

government may use to permit their actions. Specificity that is required for the most part

to analyze the actions under traditional laws gives way to a broad granting of authority in

biblical (Oral Tradition Talmud Bavli Mishnah Torah) law to the king to do, in effect, whatever he so chooses.



 However, does the royal

prerogative give Israel the Halachic authority to respond to all forms of terrorism?

Using the King’s Justice will permit Israel to do many things they would not be

permitted to under traditional Jewish law. In order to see how this operates, I will discuss

(1) what the royal prerogative is; (2) whether the King’s (Moshiach) Talmudic authority equates to

the government’s authority in modern times; (3) the reasons and authority for the King’s

Justice to be applied; and (4) how the specific responses to terrorism are justifiable under

the royal prerogative.

A. What is the Royal Prerogative?

In biblical times, the king, or sovereign, was granted very broad powers to govern

the nation of Israel. Under Halachic law,(Talmudic oral Law of the Pharisees) the monarchy exists as an independent legal

category.304 The monarchy had special rights and privileges under Jewish law,

sometimes referred to as the royal prerogative. The monarch is vested with the right to

promulgate the laws of the kingdom and, in doing so, they are vested with certain legal

authority to enforce those laws


305 According to Ritva, one of the powers granted to the

king under Talmudic law is the ability impose punishment. 306

While Ritva limits the imposition of punishment by a king to those acts that

conform with the "law of the land.(HJR Public Law 102-14 Universal Talmudic Noahide Laws)"307 There are two possible explanations of this limitation. First, as Rabbi Bleich seems to suggest, Ritva’s limitation is only in regard to non-Jewish monarchs governing the Jewish people. The second limitation is that the King could not order one to do what even the court could not.308 This is shown by his

support of the King’s authority to impose capital punishment without following the

procedural guidelines set forth in classical Talmudic law.309 However, Ritva is not the

only commentator to agree that the King may impose punishment outside of the court


Maimonides too believes that extrajudicial punishment may be handed down by

the king "by virtue of the law of monarchy and the perfection of the world."310 Even the

Torah itself, in the book of Samuel, suggests that the monarch may impose "the King’s

Justice" as it states "appoint for us a King to judge us like all nations." (Moshiach ben False God) 311 As Rabbi


Nissim explained during this time, the monarch served two purposes: 1) as commander i n- 47

chief of the army and 2) as magistrate in chief who could order extrastatutory laws when

necessary. (Talmudic Executive Order)

312 He would agree then that the King had the authority to issue laws or impose punishment in order for the needs of the Jewish people.

Thus, the royal prerogative allows the king to impose punishment and enforce

laws in order to govern over the people. There have been times when the King’s

authority was necessary to impose punishment on those who were unable to be tried in

the courts. However, just because the King was granted the authority to impose

punishment, do those same rights have any application today?

B. How the King’s Authority Translates to Israeli Governmental Authority

After the destruction of the temple, the Jews were exiled to Babylonia, beginning

their existence in the diaspora, and were left without a king. How were they to be

governed? The Halachic authorities established that "the exilarchs in Babylonia stand in

place of the king."313 The exilarch in Babylonia, like the king, "were vested with the

power to deviate from the rules of the Halacha, even in judicial matters." 314 In finding a

logical concurrence between the Babylonian exilarch and modern governments, the

Talmud authorities (Pharisees) noted during the middle ages that the doctrine of "The Law of the

Land is the Law" would not apply to a Jewish government. 315 Instead, a Jewish State

would be "governed by the King’s Law, which applies to all forms of Jewish government

as they continue to develop over the course of time."316

As this pertains to a modern Israel, Rabbi Abraham Kook has spoken directly on

the subject. His comments seem to be derived from the Talmudic passage which reads

"The king’s law applies at all times and in every generation to the leaders of the time in

their respective countries."317 Rabbi Kook notes that the royal prerogative governs the

nation stating that the "king’s law-making prerogatives revert to the nation as a

whole."318 The king’s law applies to the government where they have flexibility to

maintain order because the government is responsible for "the totality of the needs of the

people at any time for the general security."319 Noting the comparison with the biblical

story, Rabbi Kook explains "the duly constituted leaders of the nation, whatever their

caliber . . . are certainly not inferior to the exilarchs in Babylonia." 320

He concludes, "a fortiori . . . the leader certainly stands in place of the king with regard to king’s law,

which concerns the leadership of the public [and general administration of the nation]."321

Under these standards, the government of Israel has authority to rule the Jewish

people under King’s law. (EVEN ABOVE THE UNITED STATES JEWDICIAL) They do not have to abide by the Halacha when the interest to society would require steeping around the bounds of Jewish law. In an emergency situation, when it comes to maintaining law and order, and imposing punishment on those deemed dangerous to society, the Knesset is thus granted the same powers that King David would have been granted. In matters of general administration for the publ ic good,

these powers are necessary to improve the welfare of the Jewish people.(WHO LIVE IN THE US)

they apply it?

What are the proper circumstances when the government may exercise

power that is not specifically permitted under the Halacha? There are three main

circumstances when the government has such power: (1) To maintain law and order; (2)

for the benefit of society or welfare of the community; (3) in an emergency situation. I

will also discuss the limitations on superceding Talmudic law.

One of the purposes behind granting the king extrajudicial powers is to maintain

law and order in society. The king could, in biblical times, "exercise his royal

prerogative when the times call for it."322 Ran refers to the principle of hassidur

hamedini, "the maintenance of law and order" as one of the primary purposes behind the

authority of the government under the king’s law.323 The judicial powers granted to the

king were in part granted to ensure that strict reliance on Talmudic procedure would not

endanger society as in those times when "killing becomes commonplace and there is no

fear of punishment."324

Ran finds that non-Jewish law may better serve this goal in some circumstances

and remarked that "it is possible to find some of the laws and ordinances of the nation

measures more effective for the establishment and maintenance of law and order than in

the laws of the Torah. (Oral Torah Mishnah) This is not to our detriment, for whatever is lacking with regard to

law and order may be filled by the king"325 He notes that the king must have this

authority because the administration of criminal justice is "practical in nature" and must

cope with the "everyday ordering of society."326 These comments echo the intent of

Maimonides when he noted that the "king of Israel has the lawful authority" to maintain

law and order "for the sake of social order and stability."327

Under this doctrine, the government of Israel has the lawful authority to go

against Jewish law to maintain law and order. Especially at a time "when killings are

commonplace" and "there is no fear of punishment," more drastic measures must be

taken to ensure a law-abiding nation. By granting the king the Talmudic authority, we

see this as a granting of the same authority to the Israeli government and they may do

what they must to maintain law and order and protect the people from criminals. (ANY WHOM THEY DEEM CRIMINAL) OPPOSERS to oppression

Authority granted for the purpose of benefiting society acts almost as a corollary

to the purpose of maintaining law and order. Ran agrees, noting that the prerogative of

hasiddur hamedini (maintaining law and order) has "as its avowed purpose yishuvo shel

olam (the benefit of society)"."328 Because some authorities base the king’s authority

solely on the basis of a contract between the people and government,329 the king has as

their ultimate duty the protection of populace and to better the welfare of society as a

whole. It is clearly, though, within the government’s authority to "issue decrees for the

common good."330



Under this rationale it is easy to realize that the Israeli government has the lawful

authority to issue orders outside of Halachic tradition. The benefit to society is the

primary and perhaps only reason that any extrajudicial punishments are imposed. There

is no bloodlust or religious superiority that has been publicly announced as a motive- 49

behind imposing punishment on Palestinians, rather, the public purposes behind every act

has been the same: to protect the Jewish people and create a better country so that the

Jews may live in security and prosperity.

The third purpose identified for the granting of authority to the government is also

related to the first to but identifies a time period rather than a overriding rationale: the

king may impose extrajudicial punishment as an emergency measure as the times

demand. Maimonides specifically decrees, that the death penalty may be imposed when

not permitted under the Halacha in situations of emergency at th e hands of the king.331

It should be noted that the emergency measure acts not only as a purpose but as a

limitation. Because the emergency measure is by its nature, temporary, the king’s

authority would naturally be removed when the emergency has ended . 332 However, this

argument could seem to be circular because it was left to the king to decide what

constitutes an emergency measure.333 Despite this possibly limitless limitation, the

Talmud describes one firm rule in regard to the royal prerogative. The king’s decree may

go outside the letter of the law, but if actually goes against the Talmud, and the purpose

of Talmudic law, then the decree is extortionate and is not lawful.334

Understanding these points, when is Israel justified to call an emergency

situation? The government may, as the king could, determine when that emergency

situation was. There would be little dispute that Israel is currently in a crisis period.

With hundreds of attacks each month, that could clearly justify the declaring of an

emergency situation. However, has Israel went beyond the letter of the law or actually

against the purposes? In imposing punishment on terrorists, who are criminals

themselves, to save lives, the government has upheld the purposes of Talmudic law even

if they have had to bend the laws in order to achieve their goals. Some of the specific

instances will be discussed in more detail in the next section.

D. Application of the King’s Justice to Israeli Responses to Terrorism

Having determined that the Royal prerogative is a legitimate form of extrajudicial

authority under Halachic law, the king’s authority translates to the authority of the state

of Israel, and having found when the king’s justice may be imposed, the question

becomes, how would this apply to the specific responses to terrorism that Israel has used?

I will discuss how the application of the royal prerogative is justifiable in instances of

assassinations of terrorists, destruction of homes, and other responses used by the Israeli


1. Permissibility of Assassinations under the King’s Judicial Authority

Maimonides ruled on capital punishment by the king, stating "If the king of Israel

wishes to put them to death by royal decree or for the benefit of society, he has the right

to do so."335 Maimonides mentions an example when the king lawfully issued capital

punishment decrees. The king, in Maimonides’ view, is permitted to kill any person who

disobeys his orders or slanders him.336 Continuing, he noted that the king has the- 50

authority not only to go outside the bounds of formal Talmudic procedure but also that

the king may even order the death of one acquitted if he considers it for the public

good.337 Maimonides is not the only commentator to hold these views. Ritva, despite

some hesitancy in allowing such a broad decree, acknowledges the king’s authority to

impose capital punishment as long as it is within the bounds Talmudic law. 338

What does this mean for terrorists? In simple terms, they have no recourse to

complain that Israel would not comply with Jewish law. The king, in this case, the

government, has the authority, and the right to issue those capital decrees instructing

death for those who plan murders. How do the assassinations of terrorists fit under the

categories discussed earlier?

The king has the power to maintain law and order. There is little doubt that

killing those who violate the law and disrupt order would fall under the category of

maintaining law and order. The Knesset must deal with the everyday functioning of

society. Society works better when people are not in fear of terrorist attacks, and society

is not disrupted by rampant use of suicide bombers. While some may wish that other

methods would be used, that does not take away from the lawful ability to assassinate

terrorists to further law and order in Israeli society.339

Would the assassination of terrorists be permitted for the benefit of society?

Maimonides would find that they would as he would allow even the imposition of capital

punishment for a slanderer if it was for the benefit of society. When a terrorist actively

incites people to kill, actively plans murders, and actively evades justice, his death would

benefit the Israeli society. The people of Israel frightened about the possibility of more

terrorist attacks. On the other hand they feel incapable of protecting themselves. With a

swift action to eliminate these killers, Israel can allay the people’s fears and also provide

the justice that is badly needed in order to show terrorists that they will not get away with

their rampant acts of murder. Assassinating top terrorists are a benefit to Israeli society

and they are indeed justified.

2. Destruction of Property under the Royal Prerogative

The ability to impose criminal punishment extends also to the taking of property.

Under biblical law, the king was permitted to expropriate property only for military

necessity and for the building of roads.340 These powers were expanded in the Talmudic

period permitting unlimited expropriatory powers.341

Of course, when the king takes title to the property in question, he has the right to destroy it as it is his own. Furthermore,

when it comes to terrorists who have been killed, Talmudic law states that "property of a

person executed for an offense against the king reverted to the king."342

In this vein, then the property of terrorists is justifiably taken and destroyed by the

state. If the state has basically unlimited authority to expropriate property, then the

justification is not even required. Of course, were further justification required, similar

justification to assassinations could be found by appealing to the benefit to society and

maintenance of law and order that are both improved by the taking of terrorists’ property. - 51

After all, the deterrent measure alone could prevent terrorist bombings. If the terrorist

had been killed, then under this law, their property would be forfeited to Israel anyway and

Israel would have perfect right to destroy the property.

Is the royal prerogative (Executive Orders)  the method then that all responses to terrorism can be

safely viewed under Jewish law? It depends in many cases on the actual response, who

gave the order, and how it was carried out. More importantly, though, the actual

response is more dependent not on what the act was but why. If it can be shown that any

particular act was intended for the benefit of society or to maintain law and order, and

does not go against Talmudic law (even if it does not actually coincide with Halachic

law) then these actions would be justified under Jewish law. Based on a facial

examination, it would appear that all actions can be brought under the broad sweep of the

King’s Justice. However, only by looking at a particular act and analyzing it under

criminal law or the laws of war can one determine whether that act does go against the

Torah, (Oral Torah Mishnah) or merely oversteps the boundaries of Jewish Law.

3. Justification of Deportations using the "King’s Justice"

There are no real justifications for deportations of individuals under criminal l aw

or the laws of war. In the Jewish tradition, deportation and banishment was reserved

strictly for manslayers.343 (Any Who Killed a JEW) The royal prerogative may be able to sidestep this requirement,

however. The "king’s justice" gives the monarch (and the government) wide l atitude in

determining when one may be permitted to be punished, what the punishment will be,

and how the punishment will be carried out. In order to determine whether deportations

are permitted, it is necessary to justify them under the criteria used to determine

punishment under the royal prerogative.

The first of the criteria I discussed was that of maintaining law and order. Does

deportation suit this cause? Israel has stated that their purpose in deporting relatives of

terrorists would be to deter future terrorist attacks.344 If deporting family members of

terrorists would potentially save human life, and would deter future attacks, there is little

that would prevent these from being permissible under the Halacha. One of the purposes

stated was when there was no fear of punishment. Yet, the terrorists do not fear their

own death. Because of this direct punishment would have no recourse and would lead to

no result. However, if a suicide bomber would reconsider their horrific action in order to

prevent harm to their family, then there is no reason that these acts by the government

would not be permitted. While the Talmud specifically decries capital punishment for

conspirators against his throne,345 deportations would not kill the party. Instead,

deportation seems relatively minor compared to some other possible punishments that

could be meted out.

Would the deportations lead to a benefit to society? There would seem to be

evidence that it would. Besides the deterrent factor alone creating fewer future murders,

the benefit to society could also be inferred from deporting those who may have

collaborated to aid in a terrorist attack. The benefit would be gained when these

collaborators would no longer be able to work with their associates and aid in another- 52

family member committing horrific acts. Most of the family members of terrorists

support their relative’s choice. From proclaiming them a martyr to idolizing them on

playing cards, these terrorist acts are lauded in the Palestinian community. The benefit to

society as a whole would be obtained by making these acts deemed to cause harm rather

than good. If deporting a relative would serve this purpose there can be no excuse for not

permitting these actions under the Halacha.

Finally, the extenuating circumstances would allow these acts to take place. In

times of emergency, the king may resort to actions that would have little justification in

normal situations. We note that the rule remains whether the act perpetrated by the

government goes against the Torah (Oral) or merely is not permitted by it. Banishment is used

in Biblical law. Manslayers have not purposefully committed any harm yet they are

punished. So too, the deportees may not have purposefully caused any harm, or at least

have not directly created any harm, but they know that this fate may befall them if their

relative performs such a horrible deed. After all, Israel has not deported individuals

unless they have at least knowledge of the terrorist attack so the deportees are not

innocents. Israel would be justified to engage in these acts in order to prevent further

transgressions of the law.

The King’s justice is broad, but it seems to be intentionally so. There must be

some means for a ruler to adjust for circumstances that the law does not address. There

are still specific reasons when such actions may be used. The power is not unlimited.

Yet the power does go far beyond the strictures of criminal and wartime laws. But

dealing with terrorism seems to be exactly the type of situation the sages had in mind

when they permitted such stretching of the law. After all, who could disagree that a Jew

murdering Hitler, who never killed anyone himself and never declared war on the Jews,

would be justified in doing so? The same justifications would apply to Israeli

government actions in regard to terrorism. These actions would be justified under Jewish


V. Conclusion

There is much debate in Jewish community, and even greater debate in the world

community, over justifications for many of Israeli actions in responding to the terrorist

acts that have plagued the nation of Israel. While much of the criticism is attributed to

anti-Semitic groups that would (and do) criticize any action undertaken by the Jewish

people, criticism has also been levied by many Jews and Israel supporters. From the

religious community to civil rights activists, Israel’s deportations and assassinations

garner intense scrutiny.

Despite this, the Jewish people support Ariel Sharon’s tough stand against the

Palestinians. Relatively few Israelis believe that conceding land and rights will lead to

peace. Instead they feel that the only way to prevent future acts is to take a forceful

position when it comes to responding to terrorism. - 53

I agree with the majority of Israelis in deciding that the State’s responses should

be justified. I also feel that the actions are justified under Jewish law. It is true that some

of the justifications are made through broad interpretation of the Halacha. However, in

trying times that have never been dealt with before in Jewish history, broad interpretation

is not only permissible but necessary.

It is true that a narrow interpretation of the same laws I have described throughout

this paper may lead to a lack of justification for Israel’s action. But I believe that the

Sages would approve of Israel’s actions. I do not think a narrow interpretation would be

appropriate. A broad view is necessary to consider the extreme variation of terrorist

actions from anything before dealt with under Talmudic law.

My view is that the primary purpose behind the Talmudic laws are to promote the

values that we hold dear. These values, in essence, are the upholding of Talmudic

principles. The Talmud places an incredibly high value on life,(Jewish Life ONLY) especially innocent life.

They also place a great deal of value on upholding just laws. It is in these areas that the

terrorists strike right at the heart of Jewish ideals. When a terrorist has as his supreme

goal to take innocent lives, the Talmud requires that any and all means must be taken to

stop that killing. When the terrorist lives by rules of law that directly contradict even the

basic Noachide commandments, it is our obligation to ensure that these laws do not

interfere with the Jewish dedication to follow the rules of the Torah.

Would I prefer that Israel did not have to engage in any of these actions? Of

course. I would love see Israel and Palestinians live side by side in a just society devoid

of violence and mayhem. Unfortunately, that is not that case.

It is to ensure a just society that the Talmud provides flexibility. The sages have

permitted interpretation of the Torah as a living document,(Oral Torah Mishnah) not unlike the United States

Constitution. These decrees then must be used with the current times, and the current

dilemmas in order to resolve them in the way that will best benefit the Jewish people and

still be lawful.

The flexibility was broadened many times by permitting courts, governments, and

individuals to break the biblical laws for the greater good or to prevent the greater evil. Is

this not the goal of Israel’s actions? Israel is not trying to start a war against the Muslim

people, after all, on .1% of the land and barely 1% of the population in the Middle East, a

war would be extremely difficult at best. Israel is trying to maintain peace and order in a

difficult time.

And because these desperate times call for desperate measures, Israel has resorted

to such. The Jewish people have attempted cease-fires to encourage peace on numerous

occasions. Every single cease fire was broken by the murder of more Jewish people. So

at some point, the Talmudic rules must be suspended and other actions must be taken. It

is only because of dire need that assassinations, deportations, and expropriation has been

used. - 54

And so, while we all pray that the violence ends, in the mean time, the violence of

Israel is justified. I hope that Israel uses restraint in continuing these actions but is not

unwillingly to save every life they can. In the future, the creation of a just Palestinian

society is a noble goal. In the meantime, as the Noahide commandments continue to be

defied and the sanctity of life is rendered meaningless, Israel has an obligation to engage

in whatever actions necessary to maintain law and order and protect the Jewish people

from danger, wherever and however it may arise.

Dear Mr. President,

The horrific slaughter of innocent Israelis and Americans abroad is the result of the Axis of Evil pulling Arafat's strings. Arafat's Palestinian Authority-controlled West Bank and Gaza are havens for terror groups that are no different than Al Qaeda and the Taliban. The threats to Israel and the United States from the Axis of Evil must be kept in the cross hairs and removed. And Israel must be encouraged and aided to bring the Palestinian Authority and its network of terror groups crashing down. Israel cannot be forced to stand down and placate the forces of terror now, or at any time. This would send the signal that the terrorists want ... the smell of fear and weakness. Arafat's Palestinian Authority, Al Aqsa Brigades, Fatah, and other groups like Hamas and Hezbollah must be totally and forever eliminated. They do not belong at any peace talks or genuine negotiation table. And they do not belong in our future.

There is only one Jewish homeland. It is pluralistic, democratic and in charge of its own destiny. And for the Muslim Arab world, that is precisely the problem.

The land for peace paradigm, whether under the pretext of Oslo or Abdullah's recent proposal, is only opportunity for Muslim Arabs to arm Palestinians to inflict a siege of terror against innocent Jews and to wage war against the State of Israel. This is Oslo's lesson to the world. Abdullah's land for peace plan comes at a time when Israel is being terrorized. In December 2001, foreign ministers from Saudi Arabia were among their 31 counterparts from the Muslim Arab world in Doha, Qatar. There they pledged continued support for the Palestinian siege of terror against Israeli civilians. The "defenseless and unarmed Palestinians" received their inspiration and arms from the Muslim Arab world.

The difference between Hitler and Arafat is that Hitler carried out his slaughter of the Jewish people with engineered precision. Arafat, on the other hand, prefers mayhem and bloody terror, which is the lesson learned from his uncle Haj Amin Husseini, who terrorized and murdered the Jews in the Middle East in the 1920s an 1930s. The end result is that the Jewish people are being slaughtered. And the integrity of the State of Israel is on the line.

Arafat walked a way from a two state solution in June 2000 because he never was a genuine partner for peace. Neither were his forefathers who did the same in 1947. Arafat at the head of any future Palestinian state would amount to creating a terror state at Israel's front door steps with Axis of Evil states still pulling Arafat's strings. They do not belong in our future.

Israel must bring the Palestinian Authority and its network of terror groups to a complete end.

Was the President's announcement of the end of diplomacy and the imminent commencement of the bombing of Iraqi cities timed to coincide with the Babylonian-Judaic Festival of Purim?

The Pentagon's share in "Israel's war against Babylon" (as the Wall Street Journal is terming it; cf. "Babylon Revisited," March 14, p. W13), is about to commence, and on March 17, President Bush made a declaration of imminent war. His announcement occurred on the Eve of Purim, the Judaic festival of revenge. Purim finds its masonic equivalent in the Ninth Degree of the Scottish Rite, dedicated to revenge for the "murder of Hiram" -- meaning anyone who thwarts Masonry's purposes.

Tuesday and Wednesday, are Purim and Shushan Purim respectively, Adar II 14 and Adar II 15. The Book of Esther, which contains the basic story (though not the lengthy Talmudic and Kabbalistic embellishments), was labeled canonical and placed in the Old Testament as a result of rabbinic manipulation of the Church. In fact, the story's two main characters, Esther and Mordechai, are thinly veiled personifications of the Babylonian deities Ishtar and Marduk.

When Julius Streicher ascended the Nuremberg gallows after his show trial for the "war crime" of writing disgusting things about Jewish people, he announced that his execution constituted "Purim 1946." Streicher's sympathizers regarded this statement as an eloquent riposte, but Kabbalists were pleased when they learned of it, and it is quoted with satisfaction in rabbinic literature to this day.

The reason for this is that the Kabbalistic secret of Purim rests in the rabbinic command incumbent on Judaic males worldwide: that they are to get so drunk on Purim that they cannot distinguish the difference between Haman (the Jew-hating exterminator) and Mordechai (the Henry Kissinger of the story), because there is no difference, in rabbinic eyes! Both serve the purposes of the rabbis. The Kabbalistic secret of Purim is that the Hitlers of the world make the advancement of the Zionist "equilibrium" possible; without violent, implacable opposition to and hatred of all Jewish persons, including peaceable ones of good will, the rabbinic work cannot advance.

The more overt understanding of Purim is bound up with two major themes: paganism and the idea of vengeance. As befits a Babylonian Holy Day, Orthodox Judaic believers (especially the Hasidic segment), will be dressed on Purim in grotesque, Halloween-like costumes, and those who desire real insight into the pagan nature of Judaism should travel to the Crown Heights and Williamsburg sections of Brooklyn, New York Tuesday and Wednesday, and observe and if possible videotape this Babylonian Bacchanal while it is in full flower.

In terms of revenge, we are reminded of Purim, 1994, when Baruch Goldstein entered the mosque at Hebron and slaughtered 40 Palestinians as they prayed. As a result of this mass murder of the Palestinian "Amalek," there was great celebration in settler enclaves in occupied Palestine and in places like Brooklyn (this writer has video footage of these celebrations).

President Bush chose March 17, 2003 --Purim Eve, 5763-- to declare his intent to bomb the Iraqi "Amalek," so perhaps we can be forgiven for seeing in the timing of this ominous decree something more than mere coincidence. And it would not be too far-fetched to surmise that upon achieving a quick, Blitzkrieg victory, the followers of the Babylonian Talmud at the Pentagon are likely to perform covert rabbinic ceremonies at the site of the Tower of Babel, reputed to be some 60 miles south of Baghdad.

This writer would like to thank the Department of Defense official who last year briefed readers of this column on ritual aspects of the D.C. Sniper terror, for intelligence on the ritual aspects of the Purim regime, otherwise known as the Bush administration.

Illuminating the Darkness

A great Rabbi once remarked that "You cannot chase away darkness with a stick, you have to turn on the light." The way to eliminate darkness -- to rid the world of ignorance, negativity, hatred and greed -- is to kindle the lights of knowledge, generosity, hope and love.

The Chanukah menorah is lit only after nightfall. This signifies that our purpose is to illuminate the darkness of this world, until the time when, as the Prophet says, "the world will be filled with the knowledge of G-d." It may be difficult for us to perceive G-dliness in our everyday lives. But Chanukah reminds us, even in our darkest moments, that the light of knowledge can shine brightly, that redemption is at hand, if we will kindle just one more lamp.

The menorah is lit either in the doorway, or in a front window, so that it can be seen outside in the street. This teaches us that it is not enough to bring light into our own private domain. We must spread the light and warmth of Torah to the outer environment as well, as far as our influence can reach.

The Ultimate Miracle

Today, the Chanukah lights have special relevance. Many among us despair of ever witnessing the dawn of redemption. After nearly two thousand years, it may seem that the cold, hard realities of exile have all but erased our age- old faith in the coming of Moshiach, who will lead us toward a perfect world. But Chanukah reminds us that G-d grants redemption in the blink of an eye, that the light of G-dliness can brighten even the darkest night.

Eight Days, Eight Lights

Our Sages explain that there is particular significance in the fact that the Chanukah menorah has eight lamps, and that we celebrate the Festival for eight days.

In the Holy Temple, the golden Menorah kindled each day in the Sanctuary had only seven lamps. The number seven represents the natural cycle of time: the seven days of the week, corresponding to the six days of Creation and the seventh, the Sabbath Day. Throughout history, since G-d created the world, time has been measured according to this seven-day cycle.

The number eight, however, represents a level that is higher than nature, and above time. This is the level of the miraculous, which is not bound by the laws of nature. It is especially fitting that we celebrate the miracle of Chanukah with eight lamps, culminating on the eighth day... for the number eight is also associated with the revelation of Moshiach, may he come speedily, in our days!

The Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson of Lubavitch, issued a call that "The time of our Redemption has arrived!" and "Moshiach is on his way!"

The Rebbe stressed that he is saying this as a prophecy, and asks us all to prepare ourselves for the Redemption, through increasing acts of goodness and kindness.

Let us all heed the Rebbe's call.


During1 the days of the Omer, we eagerly count the days from Pesach until Shavuot, looking forward to receiving the Torah anew.

The Torah says, "And you shall count seven full weeks, from the day after your festival, when you bring the Omer as a wave offering...." (Vayikra 23:15).

What is the Omer? Why is it connected with counting these days? Here is the answer.

In the Holy Land, barley ripens in the spring, in the month of Nissan.

In the time of the Beis HaMikdosh, the new crop could not be used until an amount of barley, called an "Omer," was offered on the Great Altar in the Sanctuary. This is how it took place:

Right after the first day of Pesach, on the eve of the 16th of Nissan, prominent Torah scholars and members of the Supreme Court (Bet Din) would go out into a field of barley near Jerusalem that had been prepared before Yom Tov.

All the neighboring villagers would gather to watch the ceremony.

Three men using three sickles would cut three measures of barley, which they would put in three boxes.

Once it was dark, the head of the reapers would say, "Has the sun set?"

"Yes," everyone would reply.

"Has the sun set?" he would ask again.


"Has the sun set?"

A third time they would answer, "Yes."

Then he would point to the sickle and ask three times, "Is this the sickle?"


"Is this the sickle?"--"Yes."

"Is this the sickle?"--"Yes."

In the same way, he would ask three times, "Is this the box?"--"Yes."

"Is this the box?"--"Yes."

"Is this the box?"--"Yes."

If it was Shabbat, he would also ask three times, "Is it Shabbat today?"

This showed everybody that the mitzvah of cutting the Omer pushes off the Shabbat.

Finally he would ask, "Shall I reap?"

"Yes," they would answer.

"Shall I reap?"--"Yes."

"Shall I reap?"--"Yes."

This whole ceremony was very awesome. What was it all for?

Unfortunately, there were people at that time who rebelled against the Sages. They were called Beitusim. They tried to get people not to listen to the teachings of the Sages.

One of their arguments was that the Omer should only be cut on a Saturday night, after Shabbat.

In fact, in the Torah it says that the time for cutting the Omer is "the day after Shabbat." The Beitusim said this meant the day after Shabbat itself. But the Sages had the tradition from Mt. Sinai, that Yom Tov is also called Shabbat, and the Omer should be cut the day after Yom Tov!

They made a big ceremony out of it, so that it would be clear to everyone that the Beitusim were not correct. The Omer had to be cut the day after Yom Tov, even on Shabbat!

After the barley had been cut, it was placed in the three boxes and brought to the Beis HaMikdosh. Since it was still green and soft, it was dried and roasted in such a way that the fire touched every grain. Then it was spread out in the courtyard for the wind to blow through it. Finally it was ground up with millstones into flour.

Of the three measures (se'ah) of barley that had been reaped in the field, only one tenth was taken for the offering. This quantity is called an Omer.

This Omer was then sieved thirteen times, over and over again, until it was fine and pure.

The next day, the barley flour was burned as an offering on the Mizbayach, the Great Altar. Before burning it, the kohen would wave it in every direction in honor of the One to Whom the whole world belongs. It was as if he were saying, "Thank you G-d for the harvest. Thank you for the very bread we eat."

In the Midrash it says that the Omer shows us how kind G-d is to His people. When the Jews were in the wilderness, G-d gave every single one of them an Omer of manna every day. Now that the Jewish people had come into the Holy Land, all G-d asked in return was a single Omer from the whole Jewish people. Nor did they need to bring it every day. Once a year was enough. And barley, a poor man's grain, was all G-d required.

Our Sages also taught that Pesach is the time when the crops are ripening. At this time, G-d judges the world in regard to food, particularly grain.

At such a moment G-d says to us, "Bring me an Omer of barley on Pesach, and I will bless the grain in your fields for the whole year."

By counting these days, we remember that the world is being judged. Will there be hunger or plenty? At this time we should return to G-d with a complete heart, and beg Him to have mercy on us and on all His creatures, and on the land, so that the harvest may grow as required.

Nowadays, we do not have the Beis HaMikdosh, and we cannot bring the Omer offering, but we pray that by doing G-d's mitzvah of Counting the Omer with joy in our hearts, we may merit His ultimate blessing, that He should speedily restore the Beis HaMikdosh, and reestablish His Kingship throughout the world, with the revelation of Moshiach, Now.

On the second night of Pesach, we begin S'firat Ha'omer, counting forty-nine days between Pesach and Shavuot, the day when the Torah was given to the Children of Israel. This is done every night following the evening prayer leading up to the night before Shavuot.

We use this time to prepare ourselves to receiving the Torah, just as our ancestors did at Mt. Sinai.

 The countdown: Numbers link two festivals of freedom

Leviticus 25:1-26:2

Both in last week's Torah portion of Emor as well as in this week's Torah portion of Behar we find a commandment to count: "And you shall count for yourselves seven complete weeks shall there be, from the morrow of the Sabbath (Passover Festival), from the day of your bringing the uplifted omer barley offering, until the morrow of the seventh week; you shall count fifty days ... " (Leviticus 23: 15,16) as well as "And you shall count for yourself seven Sabbaths of years, seven years seven times ... And you shall sanctify the fiftieth year." (Leviticus 25: 8,10)

Apparently there is a striking parallel between the seven weeks connecting the Festival of Passover to the Festival of Shavuot, and the seven sabbatical years connecting the sabbatical year to the jubilee year. Indeed, the very commandment to count instructs us to establish the connection between the two periods, ordains that we join together the celebration of freedom to the celebration of the first fruits, the seventh year to the 50th year. And as we now each evening count the weeks and the days leading up to the celebration of the Torah revelation at Sinai, we can feel adumbrations of counting the sabbatical years leading up to the jubilee year ordained by this week's Torah portion. Precisely what are the parallel connections of countings that the Torah is instructing us to be mindful of?

Let us begin with the counting of the days and weeks between Passover and Shavuot: Passover is the time of our freedom, the festival of Matzah, and Shavuot is the time of the giving of the Torah, the festival of the First Fruits. The linkage between these holidays may be seen from the perspective of three different levels: on the personal level, an individual who is free from obligation -- but is without a sense of responsibility, a student on vacation who has nothing constructive to do with his free time, an adult who need not go in to work but who has not accepted for himself a clear code of ethical conduct -- can only get into deep trouble as a result of the unsupervised and undirected leisure hours (or days) at his/her disposal.

One dare not experience herut, freedom, without a concomitant sense of aharayut, responsibility. Freedom "from" without freedom "for" can lead to maddening boredom; independence without responsible maturity can lead to crime, abuse and self-destruction.

On the national level, a nation that gains its freedom only to enslave its citizenry, a nation that establishes an army and utilizes its soldiers to perpetuate acts of terror against neighboring peoples, has forfeited its right to be a nation, has perverted and vitiated the very concept of independence. This is why the Almighty commands us to unite the festival of our national freedom, Passover, with the Festival of the Commandments of Sinai, "Thou shalt not murder" and "Thou shalt not steal." This is why we must connect our first taste of freedom to the taste of the poor bread -- matzah -- that we ate as slaves in Egypt and why we must count the days until we bring the first fruits and declare our obligation to the G-d of the stranger, the orphan and the widow. (Deuteronomy 26:11, 12, 13)

In effect, the connecting count is telling us that the purpose of our national freedom must be to establish a free society of justice and compassion, predicated upon sharing its bounty with those who are in want. At the very least, a nation is only worthy of freedom and independence if it establishes a non-terrorist democracy, as expressed by President George W. Bush on June 24, 2002.

But it is the third universal level of linkage that brings us to the very mission of the nation of Israel. We read in last week's Torah portion how "You shall not eat (of the new crop of five species of grain) until that very day (the 16th of Nissan, the second day of Passover) when you bring the omer barley offering." (Leviticus 23:14)

We are then told to count the seven weeks, after which -- on the 50th day - - we are to bring two loaves of leavened bread, "a new minhah offering ... first fruits to the Lord." (ibid. 16, 17) The Mishnah explains that "the (Passover) omer barley offering permitted the new crop of the five grains within the land of Israel whereas the (Shavuot) two leaves of bread offering permitted the crop of the five grains within the Holy Temple." (B.T. Menahot 68b)

From this perspective, our count of 49 days links the land of Israel to the Holy Temple, the Jewish state to the city of Jerusalem (whose sanctity derives from its position as the Temple Mount). This linkage is perfectly in consonance with the count of the seven sabbatical years until the 50th Jubilee year in this week's Torah portion of Behar. (Leviticus 25:8-10)

During the sabbatical year, the major biblical mandate is that the land of Israel must lie fallow, in order to enable the land to continue to produce its sustenance and in order to enable even the land-less indigents to express their right to the produce of the homeland in which they share. The 50th year, Jubilee, is to be announced amidst the shofar sound in the Holy Temple on Yom Kippur, is to be declared sacred by the Sanhedrin within the Temple, and heralds unusual redemption when everyone returns to his ancestral homestead and freedom becomes the recognized legacy of every human being. (Leviticus 25:9, 10)

The land (and state) of Israel is to provide produce and secure borders for the children of Israel; the Holy Temple of Jerusalem is to be a house of prayer for all nations, from whence the divine message of universal morality and world peace is to emanate to every corner of the globe. (Micah 4).

Perhaps the right of the Jewish people to live peacefully in Israel is the litmus test as to whether the world is ready to accept an ethical monotheism that provides for "everyone to sit under his vineyard and fig tree without fear." Undoubtedly, however, our nationalism is a gateway towards the unusual acceptance of every person -- no matter by what name he calls his G-d -- who accepts the absolute value of "Thou shalt not murder" and "Thou shalt not steal." (Micah 4). The land and State of Israel must be linked to the Holy Temple in Jerusalem and humanity must be committed to ethical monotheism if free humanity is to endure. Return to


Following the departure of Jesus from the summit of the Mount of Olives, the early Christians (all Jews) gathered together in Jerusalem for prayer. Ten days later (at Shavuot, or Pentecost) the Spirit of God came upon them forming a new body or company of believers, "the church" (The Greek word ecclesia means the "called out ones", or the assembly, see Acts 1,2). This event and Peter's great outdoor sermon following took place (almost without a doubt) in the courts of the temple, in front of the eastern gate. A number of other highly significant events in the early history of the Christian church also occurred in the courts of the temple, as recorded in the book of Acts. Thus the Temple Mount is the birth-place of the church---a highly significant site for Christian pilgrims from around the world. Many are eager to visit the very spot where God's new work began---the calling out of the goyim (gentiles) a people for Himself.

Shavuos (Pentecost)


Evening of Thursday, June 5, 2003 through Saturday, June 7 (2 days).


After the Jewish people departed from Egypt, they headed directly across the desert for Mount Sinai. Their travel lasted fifty days, during which they spiritually refined themselves and prepared themselves to receive G-d's Torah. The period of forty-nine days of emotional self-refinement between Pesach (Passover) and Shavuos is now known as Sefiras HaOmer, or the Counting of the Omer.

On the fiftieth day--6 Sivan--amidst spectacular thunder, lightning, and great miracles, G-d gave the Torah to the 3 million Jewish people. This was the only time in history that He revealed Himself to a large number of people.

Shavuos, considered to be the most important holiday, is a celebration of this giving of Torah at Sinai. The Torah gives two sets of instructions as to when to celebrate it. The first is to observe it fifty days after Pesach, relating it to one's efforts to prepare himself as a vessel to receive Torah. The other is to observe it on 6 Sivan, which is a mandate from within Torah itself relating to G-d's giving of the Torah. Shavuos therefore defines the relationship between G-d and humanity through Torah, consisting of the Jewish and Noahide covenants.

What is the distinction between giving and receiving Torah? G-d gave the Torah through His mercy, not depending on whether or not we have prepared ourselves to receive it. We receive the Torah when we study it, endeavor to comprehend its wisdom, and apply it to everything we do in our lives. While the Torah was given at a certain time, our receiving of it can and should happen continually and without limitation.

Shavuos completes the process begun with Pesach.(Harods Astarte celebration)  Pesach, which celebrates the exodus from Egypt, signifies the acquisition of freedom.(Libertaion fromSaddam)  Shavuos brings meaning to this freedom by providing the means to live our lives in fulfillment of our Divine purpose: service of G-d through the commandments. Everything we do in all aspects of our lives should be done to serve G-d by observing the commandments with enthusiasm and vitality.

Not by Faith but by works and a curse of a law

The Torah, (ORAL) while given to the Jewish people and transmitted by them from generation to generation, contains universal truths and guidelines for all mankind. The Hebrew letters of the Ten Commandments have a total numerical value of 620, corresponding to all of the 613 Jewish commandments plus the Seven Noahide Laws. The Noahide Covenant was therefore established anew at Sinai. Hence we must observe the commandments and their specific applications as given at Sinai, not as given in the original covenant with Noah. Because the Noahide Laws are given exclusively in the Oral Torah and not in the written, we see that we must look to the Jewish people--who maintain and teach the oral traditions--for Torah learning and spiritual guidance.

The giving of Torah sparked a fundamental change in the way the universe operates. Until then the effect of performing a mitzvah (commandment) was temporary, with spirituality and physicality separating themselves once again when the mitzvah was completed. However, once Torah was revealed at Sinai, the mitzvos began to have a permanent effect: Spirituality could now be fused with physicality, revealing G-dliness in the physical world and spiritually elevating the physical. Because of this new permanency of the mitzvos, we can fulfill our G-dly mission here in this world by adding our efforts to those of previous generations in helping to reveal G-d through His creation.

Shavuos has a direct connection to the final Redemption. G-d revealed Himself for but a moment at Sinai when He gave the Torah, a foreshadowing of what is to come and remain permanently in the Messianic Era: the Divine presence manifesting itself visibly and permeating all of creation, as the result of our cumulative efforts throughout history in fulfilling the Divine mandate of the Jewish and Noahide Covenants.

Three people in Jewish history are particularly associated with Shavuot: Moshe, King David and the Baal Shem Tov. And these three great leaders were also intimately connected with Moshiach and the Redemption.

As the one through whom the Torah was given to the Jewish people, Moshe is intimately connected with Shavuot. The Torah, in some places, is even referred to as Torat Moshe (The Torah of Moshe). Moshiach will be so like Moshe in his leadership qualities, humility and Torah scholarship that our Sages even stated, "Moshe is the first redeemer and the last redeemer."

Shavuot is the birthday and anniversary of the passing of King David. One of the functions of Moshiach is that he will restore the Davidic dynasty, for Moshiach will be a descendant of King David, a human king.

Finally, we come to the Baal Shem Tov. The Baal Shem Tov, too, passed away on Shavuot. In a famous letter to his brother-in-law, the Baal Shem Tov described a spiritual "journey" when he visited the chamber of Moshiach. He asked Moshiach, "Master, when will you come?" Moshiach replied, "When your wellsprings -- your teachings -- will spread forth to the outside."

The Baal Shem Tov's teachings -- Chasidus -- were recorded and expounded upon by his various disciples. They are a foretaste of the new and deeper revelations of Torah that we are promised will be revealed and taught by Moshiach himself.

This year on Shavuot, when all Jews, young and old, gather in our synagogues to reexperience the giving of the Torah on Mount Sinai, let us also reconnect with the essence of the holiday and cry out for the ultimate revelation of the Torah and G-d through Moshiach.

Keeping Secrets

Contrary to popular opinion, it was not just the Ten Commandments that we received on Mount Sinai. The revelation encompassed every dimension of Torah, including the deepest mystical secrets. Our Sages tell us that every Jew at Sinai saw a vision of the Divine Chariot, as described (many centuries later) in the prophecy of Ezekiel. This sublime manifestation of G-dliness is the core of the wisdom of the Kabbalah.

The secrets of the Kabbalah were considered too potent to be revealed to the masses.

The Affliction and the Cure

As the centuries passed, the Jews of the Diaspora became increasingly engulfed in the darkness of exile. Persecution and poverty eroded our faith. The spiritual awareness that had been prevalent in biblical times gradually gave way to ignorance and despair. Jewry was "fainting"; powerful medicine was required to revive her.

By Divine Providence, the "elixir" appeared: the esoteric wisdom of Torah began to emerge from private sanctuaries into the public domain. Kabbalistic texts that had been buried for centuries were suddenly unearthed and published. Sages began to promulgate profound teachings that kindled sparks in the hearts of the downtrodden. And with the advent of a remarkable man named Rabbi Israel Baal Shem Tov, the ancient mystical truths were eventually revealed and rendered accessible to every man. The new movement was called Chasidism, and its goal was to unleash the unlimited potential of the human soul.

The modern-day emergence of Torah mysticism into the public domain began with the 13th-century publication of the Zohar -- the kabbalistic magnum opus of Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai, written more than 1,000 years before.

In the sixteenth century, Rabbi Isaac Luria, known as the "Holy Ari," unveiled his systematic exposition of the mysteries of the Kabbalah. Then, two generations later, Rabbi Schneur Zalman of Liadi -- the Baal Shem Tov's "spiritual grandson" -- founded the Chabad school of chasidic philosophy. Contemporary Chabad Chasidus expounds the chasidic teachings in rational, readily understood, intellectual terms, and illuminates every facet of the Jewish way of life.

What is the most wicked city on earth? From this evil place spews witchcraft and sorcery. Its merchants produce the world's most destructive child pornography. This city's hidden rulers are the drug kingpins of the planet. Their mafia control the world's most frenzied gambling establishments. Cruel violence, sexual sin and perversion, murder and gangsterism rock this city and reverberate around the world. This city's inhabitants have spread their tentacles across the globe. Their grotesque debauchery and unparalleled crimes are holographed in New York City, Moscow, London, Bangkok, and dozens of other locales.

Jerusalem Identified as "Sodom and Egypt"

The prophetic Scriptures identify this city with Mystery Babylon, and spiritually call it "Sodom and Egypt" (Revelation 11:8). The Bible says this is the great city "wherein our Lord was crucified."

This city, is in fact, the very "Cauldron of Abaddon," a fiery boiling pot of sorcery and vice stirred by Satan and his minions.

The city I am describing is, of course, Jerusalem, the capital of Israel, a place so evil and corrupt that The Jerusalem Report (November 13, 1997), a strongly pro-Israel publication, labeled the city "Lawless."

Jews' First Allegiance is to Israel

Jerusalem is not only the capitol of the nation-state of Israel. The very name of this city is a codeword, which stands for the pervasive influence of latter day Jewish culture and religion throughout the world.

Indeed, there are more Jews living today in New York City than reside in Jerusalem proper. And in the state of Florida, a haven for rich Jews, there are found more Jews than in all of Israel.

In almost every major city of the planet, there is found a community of rich and influential Jews who control local media, commerce, and banking, and whose first allegiance is not to the country in which they reside, but to Israel and to Jerusalem.

In the U.S.A., for example, our banking system is run by a Jew, Fed Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan. Our nation's two most prominent newspapers, The Washington Post and The New York Times, are owned by Jews and operated on behalf of Jerusalem and global Jewish culture. Our TV networks also are owned and run by Jews, and their propaganda consistently represents the sole viewpoint of Jerusalem and Israel. These TV networks incessantly spew out pro-Israel sentiment and promote Jewish culture to unwitting Americans.

In America, Jews founded and still run liberal, Christ-hating, agitation groups like the ACLU, ADL, AIPAC, PAW, Southern Poverty Law Center, and the American Jewish Congress.

Oh, did I mention Hollywood? You know, that village culturally akin to Sodom and Gomorrah out in California, which endlessly churns out filth and corruption. Yes, it, too, is owned by Jews and is operated as a propaganda front for Zionist forces in Jerusalem.

Now there was some controversy among Rabbinic scholars as to whether Christians, believing in the trinity, and acting out rituals to symbolize this belief, transgressed the first of the Noahide laws against idolatry.  It was discussed in the Talmud but it was ultimately decided upon, once and for all, by later Halachic authorities.  Their understanding is that the trinity (they called it Shituff or associationsm) was, in fact, not the worship of multiple gods and therefore acceptable under the Noahide laws.

So in that sense, a Christian who doesn’t murder or steal or commit sexual improprieties and lives under a moral legal system,  is considered in the Jewish codes as a righteous person.   The Rambam states that  non-Jews (this includes Muslims, by the way)  who observe the Noahide laws have their place in the world to come and they are among the  “hasidei u’mot haolam,”  the righteous of the nations of the world. 

So Halachically,  we could have answered the Archbishop this past Wednesday morning by saying to him,  in our view,  a good Catholic is considered a righteous gentile,  is considered to be among  the righteous of the world;  and in the end of days,  when the Messiah comes,  they will have their place in heaven.  That is how the Halacha understands the Archbishops parishioners.  That is how Jews understand all people who are not Jews.

“And an angel of God said to her: Behold, you will conceive and give birth to a son, you shall name him Yishmael for God has heard your prayer. And he shall be a Pere Adam (a wild man), his hand against everyone and everyone's hand against him and in the face of his brothers shall he dwell.” (Bereshith: 16: 11, 12)

“Rabbi Jochanan and Resh Lakish debated this. Rabbi Jochanan said: It means that while all people are bred in civilized surroundings, he would be reared in the wilderness. Resh Lakish said: It means a savage among men, in its literal sense, for as people plunder wealth, he plunders lives.”

At the covenant between the pieces God causes Avram to fall into a deep prophetic sleep:

When God blesses Avram He says:

Then I will bless you and I will greatly multiply your seed as the stars of the heaven and as the sand which is upon the seashore. And your seed shall posses the gates of oivav, his enemy (Bereshith: 22:17)

Who is your enemy? The sons of Yishmael, the son of Avram and Sara. When Rivka is asked to marry Yitschak, her family says to her:

Our sister, become you thousands of myriads and let your descendants inherit of those that sonav, hate them (Bereshith 24.60)

Who are the haters of Israel? The sons of Esav, the son of Rivka and Yitschak. What is the difference between “enemies” and “haters”?

The word Oyev (enemy)is referring to the Arab nations and Soneh (hater) (to Edom, the sons of Esav, the Roman empire often identified with Anti-Semitism) in the West

The enemy is more evil than the hater, since the hater will do evil but will have mercy (on him self) but the enemy will have an eternal animosity and will not spare himself when he tries to kill Jews. And therefore he is called Oyev because this word is philologically related to the _expression Oi Va Voy, because somebody who falls into the hands of the descendants of Yishmael will shout Oy Va Voy (How terrible!).

And it that way this exile will be different from all exiles before since they will try to use ways to destroy Israel as has never been tried before and God's interference will be clear.”

The Rambam states[1]:

"..A King will arise from the house of (King) David, one who delves in Torah study and is occupied in mitzvos just as David his father, following the Written and Oral Torah; he will coerce and influence all Jews to go in its path and to strengthen its weakness, and he will fight the battle of G-d - this is a sign that he is Moshiach. If he succeeds, he will then rebuild the Beis Hamikdash (Holy Temple) in its place and will gather the ingathering of Jews from exile - then he is definitely Moshiach. He will also prepare the whole world to serve G-d together, as is written,[2] "Then will I change unto the people a pure language, that they may all call on the name of G-d, to serve Him with one accord."


Will Moshiach ben Bush-ka remove the saints of Christ Jesus? Yes they call true Believers in Christ Jesus, Amalek, when in fact the "SAYERS" who are not the seed of Abraham by faith in Christ Jesus are true Amalek and it will severely back fire upon them.

Those who curse the seed of Abraham in faith of Christ Jesus are damned and cursed.


The eradication of Amalek (one of the 613 Commandments), in the physical sense, is not possible today. Some Authorities hold that this mitzvah is binding only upon the Jewish King, and that he must enlist the Jewish people to wipe out Amalek's kin.[16] Today, however, we do not have a Jewish King.

Thus, Sefer Yereim states[17]:

The mitzvah to eradicate Amalek is relegated only to the King and not to all Jews. This is seen in the verse,[18] "G-d swore by His throne" alluding to the throne of Kingship (i.e. when there will be a Jewish King) - then "G-d will have war with Amalek."

SMAG[19] also concurs with this:

This mitzvah applies only in the days of Moshiach, after the full conquest of Israel. Hence, today, when we have no Jewish King, this mitzvah is not in effect.

Ramban, too, confirms this Halachic viewpoint3:

When there will be a Jewish King sitting upon G-d's throne, he will then battle against Amalek ... for every Jewish King is obligated to battle against Amalek's kin until they are fully decimated. The Rambam also rules[20]:

The King wages a mitzvah battle ... and the battle against Amalek.

Sefer HaChinuch,[21] however, writes that this mitzvah is binding upon the entire Jewish community.

Yet, even according to those who opine that this mitzvah was given to all Jews, it is still not feasible today to eradicate Amalek in the physical sense, because:


  1. This act is possible only when Jews are fully in control (and not dependent upon other nations - which is not the case today).


  2. This mitzvah is effective only when we know for sure who belongs to, and descends from, Amalek's kin. Since Sancherib of Babylon came and mixed up the world, causing massive confusion among all ethnic identities,[22] therefore, we assume that no one comes from Amalek.


Only when Moshiach comes, at which time Jews will have full power and autonomy, and it will be clearly defined who descends from Amalek's kin, Moshiach will then eradicate all aspects of Amalek en toto[23] - "male and female."


Eradicating The Spiritual Amalek

The aforesaid is only in the physical sense. In the spiritual realm, however, this endeavor is applicable even now, as is known that all Jews are obligated to remember the act of Amalek; even women who do not go into battle, are also required to participate in this remembrance. - This remembrance is included in the Six Daily Remembrances, recited after Shacharis (the daily Morning prayer).

The mitzvah to remember the brazen act of Amalek is not just once a lifetime or once a year but this is obligatory every day[24]: Each one should bear this in mind when reciting before

Shema - "You brought us near to Your Great Name". This clearly shows how important the remembrance of Amalek's act is, at least in the spiritual sense, in serving G-d at all times.

The concept of Amalek in the spiritual sense is expressed in the verse,[25] asher karcha - lit. "he - Amalek - met you by the way;" it also means "he cooled you off," i.e. he cooled off your enthusiasm for Torah and mitzvos. Thus the Midrash relates[26]:

Amalek cooled you off in the presence of others. This may be likened to a boiling hot bath, which no person could enter, for fear of being scalded. One roughneck came along and jumped into the steaming water. Although he became scalded, he cooled it off for others; now others will say that it's possible to enter this hot bath. Likewise, when the Jews left Egypt, at the time of the Exodus, G-d split the Sea for them and all the Egyptians were drowned in it. At that time, the fear of the Jews - and G-d - fell upon all nations of the world, as is written,[27] "Then were frightened the Dukes of Edom.."

But, as soon as Amalek came and attacked the Jews, although he was badly defeated, he cooled down their fearsome power in the eyes of the other nations (who now felt that the Jews were vulnerable and attackable).

The `cooling off' of Amalek is also evident in one's spiritual life, in Torah and mitzvos. In serving G-d, one must wage a "battle" against this spiritual Amalek every day. It does not suffice that yesterday one was enthused with Torah study and davening (prayers); today one must rise up again and battle against the cooling effect of the spiritual `Amalek'.

One must begin with warmth and zeal in davening, which will enable him to face the outside world with proud identity as a Torah Jew.

This daily spiritual activity - never permitting `Amalek' to cool off our hislahavus, our zeal for Torah and mitzvos - is the preparation for eradicating Amalek and his kin in the physical sense, with the speedy advent of the King Moshiach.


The true height of purity will be attained only with the advent of Moshiach, at which time Zecharyah's prophecy will be fulfilled,[13] "And the spirit of impurity I shall remove from the earth."

For, even when Moshiach comes, the spirit of impurity will still be here, as seen in the Rambam's description of Moshiach[14]: "Moshiach will coerce all Jews to study Torah and observe mitzvos."

The term "coerce" indicates that not everyone will return to Torah on their own, since there will still be the spirit of impurity (and the evil inclination). Moshiach's function will be (one of his many, multifaceted functions) to completely remove the spirit of impurity from the world.

Perhaps some might assume that we need do nothing now and just wait for Moshiach to do the job. This is not so! Rather, we must do everything possible now - each and every person - to infuse the spirit of purity within ourselves, our homes and community, as our Sages declare[15]: "Purity leads to..the coming of Eliyahu the Prophet and Moshiach."

We can - and must - prepare for the imminent advent of Moshiach NOW!


The Jewish Century

Kevin MacDonaldKevin MacDonald book "The Culture of Critique" (2002) portrays the 20th century as a Jewish century. A hundred years ago, Jews were an impoverished people living mostly in Eastern Europe surrounded by hostile populations. Today Israel is firmly established in the Middle East and Jews have become the wealthiest and most powerful elite in the United States and other Western countries.

More significantly, according to MacDonald, the Western intellectual world has become Judaized. Jewish values and attitudes now constitute the culture of the West. Because of deep-seated Jewish hostility toward traditional Western (i.e. Christian) culture, the founding peoples "have been made to feel deeply ashamed of their own history, surely the prelude to their demise as a culture and a people." (lxix)

Specifically, Jewish organizations promote policies and ideologies aimed at undermining cultural cohesion while practising the opposite policies themselves. While they promote multiculturalism and internationalism in the West, they insist that Israel remain a racially pure national enclave for Jews.

"The present immigration policy essentially places the United States and other Western societies "in play" in an evolutionary sense which does not apply to other nations of the world," MacDonald writes. "Notice that American Jews have no interest in proposing that immigration to Israel should be similarly multiethnic, or ... threaten the hegemony of the Jews." (323)


MacDonald says anti Semitism in Weimar Germany was based on a perception that "that Jewish critical analysis of gentile society was aimed at dissolving the bonds of cohesiveness within the society." One academic referred to the Jews as "the classic party of national decomposition." (163)

MacDonald speculates that Jews feel more comfortable in societies without a distinctive national character. I think there is more to this. The break-up of society into isolated individuals is also the agenda of the new world order, which wishes to remove any united resistance. The new world order is essentially the transfer of all power to international finance. The question then arises: is the new world order a Jewish phenomenon? Or are Jewish intellectuals the pawns of financiers, both Jewish and non-Jewish?

MacDonald focuses on how Jewish intellectual movements led by authoritarian figures took over modern intellectual life. He discusses Boas in Anthropology, Adorno in Sociology, Freud in Psychiatry and Derrida in Philosophy.

The "Frankfurt School," for example, was a "Marxist Jewish cult" financed by Jewish millionaire Felix Weil. Theodore Adorno's influential book "The Authoritarian Personality" (1950) was actually sponsored by the American Jewish Committee. It attributed prejudice to Christian sexual repression and portrayed gentile group affiliations (including Christian religion, patriotism, and family) as indications of psychiatric disorder. (162)


Social disintegration leads to psychological confusion. Society has accepted Adorno's view that there is no objective standard of truth, no common reality. Everyone is isolated and different. Adorno resisted attempts to "endow the world with any universality, objectivity or totality, with any single organizing principle that would homogenize society..." (164)

This kind of post-modernist philosophy has paralysed modern Western culture. Western civilization is built on the foundation that truth is spiritual, universal and knowable. Ultimately truth is God.

Universities today have given up the pursuit of truth and are devoted to Bolshevik-like social engineering and indoctrination. A liberal arts education today is not only a waste of time but toxic. Far from bearers of the Western tradition, universities are its executioners with the tacit blessing of the government.


Kevin MacDonald, a professor of Psychology at California State University is a rare exception. His courageous indispensable book unveils the subversive character of our time.

A soft-spoken man who approaches his subject with scientific detachment, MacDonald has amassed a wealth of remarkable detail. For instance, did you know that white gentiles are the most underrepresented group at Harvard? They account for approximately 25% of the student body. While Asians and Jews make up only 5% of the US population, they account for at least 50% of Harvard enrolment.

"The United States is well on the road to being dominated by an Asian technocratic elite and a Jewish business, professional and media elite," MacDonald says.

He details the Jewish role in sponsoring Communism, non-European immigration and the NAACP. He documents the stranglehold Jews have on US cultural life and shows how it is used to shape American attitudes.

"For example, All in the Family ...not only managed to portray working class Europeans as stupid and bigoted, it portrayed Jewish themes very positively. By the end of its 12-year run, even archenemy Archie Bunker has raised a Jewish child in his home, befriended a Black Jew (implication: Judaism has no ethnic connotations), gone into business with a Jewish partner, enrolled as a member of a synagogue, praised his close friend at Jewish funeral [etc].... Jewish rituals are portrayed as "pleasant and ennobling" ... There is never any rational explanation for anti Semitism...[it] is portrayed as an absolute irrational evil that must be fought at every turn." (lviii)

On the other hand, Christianity is typically portrayed as evil in the movies, and Christians are even depicted as psychopaths. MacDonald cites conservative Jewish critic Michael Medved who complains that he couldn't find one film made since 1975 where Christianity was portrayed positively. (lix)


MacDonald sees anti Semitism as the result of legitimate conflicts-of-interest. Yet Jewish organizations demonize anyone with the temerity to address Jewish power. They suppress the fact that Jewish-Christian rivalry has very deep roots in Western society.

In my view, this rivalry boils down to the fact that Jewish Pharisees rejected Christ's gospel of universal love and human brotherhood. Ever since, Jews have been social and metaphysical outcasts, albeit ones with amazing powers of self-justification. We have been used as pawns by worldly powerbrokers bent on destroying Christian civilization. The "modernist" trend of the 20th Century can be seen in these terms.

As I have suggested elsewhere, Judaism is more a racial creed than a religion. Jews are told we have a mission to create equality and social justice. In fact, we are being used by financiers to build a totalitarian world order. The financiers hold out socialist ideals as bait to transfer more and more power to government, which they control.

Of course, not all Jews are pawns of the new world order. Most pawns are not Jews. Racism has no place in this debate. But generally I believe Jews have played a prominent role in modernism.
A beacon for humanity, we have not been. Deceived ourselves, we have deceived others and purveyed personal dysfunction and societal oppression. Our role in Communism is a disgrace. Israel is a source of shame. Jews need to discover who we really are and rededicate ourselves.

We can begin by reading "The Culture of Critique" and the other books in MacDonald's trilogy about Judaism as an evolutionary stategy, "A People that Shall Dwell Alone" (1994) and "Separation and its Discontents" (1998). MacDonald's publisher sent "The Culture of Critique to 40 Jewish publications and didn't get one review. Nor has there been any mainstream coverage, a confirmation of his thesis and measure of our captivity.

MacDonald does not suggest remedies. But to combat the "new world order," Western nations must return to their Christian and national roots. The founding groups should reassert their values and traditions as the common glue. Minorities should be welcomed but they should not be able to remake society in their own image.

At birth we each enter a drama already in progress. We may sense something is very wrong but we can't define it. In fact, we are in the advanced stages of a long-term conspiracy to subvert Western civilization. "Modernism" in the 20th Century was a hoax designed to strip people of their familial, cultural and religious identity before enslaving them in a new dark age. Western societies must return to their Christian and national roots or this drama will not end well.

Congressmen ask Ashcroft to drop Bursey prosecution

A group of Congressmen have written Attorney General John Ashcroft urging him to drop prosecution of a South Carolina man arrested for trespassing while protesting an appearance by President Bush in October.

Rep. Barney Frank, D-Mass., said 11 House members - 10 Democrats and Texas Republican Ron Paul - wrote to Ashcroft that charging Brett Bursey was a mistake "and is in fact a threat to the freedom of expression we should all be defending."

Bursey, a longtime activist, was arrested at Columbia Metropolitan Airport before a speech by Bush on Oct. 24. Bursey was asked to leave a restricted area moments before the president arrived.

Bursey says he was told to go to a designated protest site that was at least a half-mile away from the speech.

Although local charges were dropped, federal authorities are still pursuing charges against Bursey under a statute that allows the Secret Service to restrict access to areas during the president's travels.

"As we read the First Amendment to the Constitution, the United States is a 'free speech zone,'" Frank said.

Frank said a citizen's right to express themselves does not depend "on their doing it in a way the President finds politically amenable."

Bursey, who heads the South Carolina Progressive Network, faces a maximum fine of $5,000 and up to six months in jail.

The office of U.S. Attorney Strom Thurmond Jr. has said Bursey will likely face a hearing in July.



I have been reading through your webpages for the last couple of
months, and I must tell you that you opened my eyes for a lot of
things, and I can agree with your findings to a very large extent.  As
South Africans, we are very much aware of the whole issue of
land-deprivation.  As was seen in Zimbabwe, white-owned land were
confiscated without any compensation whatsoever.  We can tell many
stories of farming-families that were killed, or had to leave their
farms whithout anything, being harassed by the so called "war
veterans."  Houses were burnt down, and many productive farms came to
a standstill.  Huge areas were not cultivated in the past year or so.
So much so, that a very large persentage of Zimbabwe is uncultivated
today (as can be seen on the satelite photo's) .  They had to import
large quantities of food from South Africa this year because of the
food shortage.
This "land reform" as it is called, is on the doorstep of South Africa
as well.  This issue ties together with the program that is in place
to put the white South African on a guilt trip for the so-called
"apartheid" that was invented by the previous government.  It's
pay-back time for all the white South Africans, even though you did
not take part in any "apartheid" or discriminative acts.  I am
co-owner of a computer business myself, and I am witness to the fact
that the State-departments do not want to buy from me, because I don't
have a black person, and especially not a black, disabled woman as a
shareholder.  And that is despite the fact that my quotes and services
are better, and that the people on ground level always consult me for
advice and specialized issues.

Nevertheless, the reason why I write you, is to bring under your
attention two articles that I have read recently by Ivor Benson.

Both astounding articles is about how the economic control of gold and
the Anglo-boer war played an important role in the world domination of

The name of the 21st degree, Patriarch Noachite, was one that especially intrigued me.What is a Patriarch Noachite was what does he or it have to do with Freema-sonry ? It should be noted that Noachite has various spell-ings, among them: Noahide, Noahchite, Noachidae, and Noachida. 

So, how does this fit into Freemasonry? The earliest known refer-ence is in a 1735 letter from the Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of England to the Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Calcutta. It is the fourth paragraph of the letter that is pertinent to this discussion."Providence has fixed your Lodge near those learn'd Indians that affect to be called Noachidae..."The earliest wide usageof Noachite, or in this case Noachida, is found in the first charge of the second or 1738 edition of the Constitutions of the Grand Lodge of England written by the Rev. James Anderson."A Mason is obliged by his Tenure to observe the Moral Law, as a true Noachida..." 

The second paragraph has the following sentence, "...For they all agree in the 3 great Articles of  Noah, enough to preserve the Cement of the Lodge."What did the Rev.Anderson mean by his use of Noachida in the revised First Charge? 

The Encyclopaedia Judaica provides an answer. Noachide laws are "...the seven laws considered by rabbinic tradition as the minimal moral duties enjoined by the Bible (Has nothing to do with the Bible but the Oral Tradition of Mishnah Torah of Talmud Bavli) on all men. The seven Noachide laws as traditionally enumerated are: prohibitions of idolatry,blasphemy, bloodshed, sexual sins, theft, and eating from a living animal, as well as the injunction to establish a legal system." The Noachide laws"...are derived from the divine commands addressed to Adam and Noah, the progenitors of all mankind, and are thus regarded as universal.

"This discussion of the Noachide laws largely fits within the moral teachings of Freema-sonry. And it is probably why the Rev. Anderson saw fit to include the reference to them in the 1738 edition of the Constitu-tions of the Grand Lodge of England. But, there are seven Noachide Laws and Anderson alludes to only three. Which three did he mean? 

He meant the Infiltration of the Jerusalem Council and the One James, head of the Jerusalem Temple in Acts, Satan's grandes deception. Thus Paul, the Apostle said "Doth Iniquity already worketh in the church, the leaven of the Talmudic Babylonian Sofiet Reds of Bolshevism.

The good Reverend did not elaborate, but several Masonic scholars have specu-lated what he meant. One theory is Anderson meant the Masonic triad of Brotherly Love, Relief, and Truth. Perhaps the most likely explanation is that Rev. Anderson was referring to Genesis Chapter 6, verse 9."These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God."What's a 'Noachite'?
