I got involved in Law Enforcement from a early age.
I started as an informant for our local Police Department at the age of 16 in 1970.

I joined the Army in 1972 and was stationed in Hanau Germany.
I worked for the CID (Criminal Investigating Division) for the US Army in undercover narcotics investigations.
In 1975 It was discovered that I was a narcotics investigator and the narcotic dealers in Germany tried to take my life. I was secretly transported to a remote army installation where I recovered from my injuries, and finished my tour of duty and left the Army in 1975.
In 1977 I re-enlisted back into the Army for another tour of duty. This time I went to Ft Sill Oklahoma in a Military Police unit into MPI (Military police Investigations).
In 1980 I finished my tour of duty and was released from the Army with Honors.
In 1981 I then went in to the Police Academy in Texas and worked with A city Police Department.
In 1986 I became the Chief of Police.
In 1992 left the Police Force and worked in the private business industry.
I then had myself certified in all the Metro Courts in and around Atlanta Georgia, to serve civil processes for Attorneys. I am still certified with these courts however have left the process serving and now enjoying one of the best jobs in my life.
So as you can See I have spent a better part of thirty years working with the laws, and courts.

Inspirational travels

I was born on Yom Kippur, Tishrei 10, 5715 - תשי"ד
I was raised to believe in the christian religion. Was not a member of any denomination.
I went to Baptist Churches, and Assembly of God Churches. I have always as far back as I can remember had a unquenchable thirst for seeking God.

Much of my spare time I was combing through scriptures trying to put it all together for most of my life.

A strange set of events took place when I was employed as a assistant Police Chief.
I received a call one day while I was sitting in my office and a gentlemen told me who he was and said, I live in another town bordering your Jurisdiction and wanted to inform you that G-d has laid it upon my heart to give you 1,500.00.

I don't know why, and when ever you want it contact me. The gentlemen gave me his address and phone number and assured me this was not a bribe. So many months went by and I eventfully forgot about the generous offer from the gentlemen, - fearing it was some sort of trick-trap.
One day our city Judge who was a professor in El Centro? College in Dallas Texas, happened to bring to court a book titled "Will the real Jesus Please Stand" by Vendyl Jones of Arlington Texas.

She asked me to read it since we had many conversations over the religious subjects. I took the book and the next day I started to reading it. It was the most fascinating book I have ever read in my life. I did not go to sleep the next night until the book was finished. I was so shocked at the truth within this book I was week in the knees, ya know just like when you have a near accident in an automobile.

So time went on and I eventually met Vendyl Jones at the Judges house and we discussed his book.

Well one day I was sitting on my couch and was looking through a red letter addition of the bible, red letters appeared where ever Jesus had spoke. I feeling extremely frustrated at the new revelations I had discovered in Vendyl's Book verses the old traditions I was taught.

Because he could not and will not understand the Mysteries of Jesus the Christ which is Revealed to his saints who Stand firm against the Beast Sanhedrin and their beast the false Christ, Moshiach ben satan

A big battle was waged with in my soul. While sitting there I finally threw the bible on the floor and said this to G-d. Give me the Truth or Give me death - this was tearing me up and one way or another I needed relief.

Well a few moments I sat there and looked down at the bible and all of a sudden the red letters jumped out at me and caught my eye. The bible had opened up in one of the gospels where Jesus was standing before Pilot. When Pilot asked him a question he said, "Go ask them I taught in their Synagogues." GO ASK THEM, Go ask Them? - THE JEWS - was the thought that raced in my head.

Well the next day I went to work and thought about what had just happened the night before wondering where is the Jews? Well I thought about Israel. So Israel? Isaac, Isaac is a Jewish name so I grabbed a phone book and looked under Isaac. I found several Isaac, but one struck me sort of definite.

Isaac Levi, wow this guy has to be Jewish with a name like that. So I proceeded to call this guy and I asked him if he was Jewish. He said he was and asked why? I said I was interested in learning about the Jewish religion, since Jesus was Jewish.

He responded ok well what would you like to know? I did not want to keep the phone tied up for a long time so I said, I have a lot of questions I would like to ask you and it perhaps would take up a long time, so I asked if perhaps we could meet and discuss this when he had some time available. He responded and said well I have time now if you would like? I said ok that will be fine and I asked him since he lived close by could he stop by my office?

He said that would not be a problem, where are you located? Well at this point I had to explain to him who I was the Assistant Police Chief of the neighboring town. He did not respond immediately. Finally he came back and wanted to know if I was for real. I assured him I was, and I apologized for making him uncomfortable. He said can I call you back. I said that will be fine. So I left my number with him. In a little while he called me back and wanted to know if I would not mind if he brought a friend along with him. I said sure.
Well he and his friend showed up and we had a lengthy conversation about the Jews, religion, and Vendyl Jones's book.
After a while he admitted to me he was scared to come by himself since he was here in America from Israel on a visa, and was thinking there may be a problem with that.

So from there Isaac had bible (Babyl) classes at his house which I attended for a long time. And I learned allot about the life of Jesus since he was a Jew.

Eventually I began to see that things just didn't seem correct with the Christian Religion, too many errors along the way in the religion. Some day I will point them out, but this is not the time.
So from there I started visiting the Synagogue's around the Dallas Texas area seeking conversion. This is where I was really educated about the Noachide laws. From that point on I only studied with orthodox rabbis.

After a year or so I received another phone call. This time it was Vendyl Jones.
He was telling me he was soon to take a team of archeologists to Israel and will be excavating in some caves located in the Qumran dessert, and wanted to know if I would be interested in going? I asked how long will you be there for, he said about two months. I said I would have to think about it and get back with him. Wow is what raced in my mind. How could I go? I can't take a two month vacation! Oh how I wanted to go to Israel.

So eventually I made a decision to resign from my position and go. I called Vendyl and asked him how much it would cost? He said it would be 1500.00 for a month. I said ok then count me in.
Well all of a sudden it hit me and my memory went back to the gentlemen that called me out of the clear blue sky. So what did I do? I called him and to my dismay he had moved. So I started asking and searching around trying to locate him, and finally I found him and asked if he still had that offer available? He said he did and just come on over and get it when you get ready.
he asked my? By the way what are you going to use it for If I may ask? I told him the story about Vendyl's book and all the events which led up to this point.
He was amazed and wished me good luck.
The local news paper published a article about me resigning my position and moving to Israel.
So From that point I sold all my belongings and left with the team to Israel. My intention was not to come back but continue living in Israel.

We were staying at the Grand Hotel in the West Bank, which I was very uncomfortable with, due to the fact this was when the Arabs were upset with some American policies, and wanted to kill us.

While I was there I had trusted some one to help get me established is Israel so I could remain there after the dig. Well, come to find out this person didn't do any thing at all when it was time to leave.
The situation was elevated between Arabs and America then and the American Consulate was advising Americans to leave Israel.
So I had no choice but to leave.

After a while I couldn't stand my desire to live in Israel, so I gave in again when Saddam was Scudding Israel. Again I sold all and went back. The same week the last Scud landed.
I then went on my own looking for a home in Israel. I stayed in a youth hostel in Tel Aviv.
Eventually one day while purchasing some Health and Life insurance, in a local insurance office, the lady I was working with asked me what I was doing and where I was staying? I told her the long story, and she said she knew some one that might help. So she got on the phone with Kibbutz Yavne and after a lengthy conversation in Hebrew with the Kibbutz, she turned to me and said that they will take you in there if you would be interested? I said sure.
She gave me the contact information at the Kibbutz and so I got a buss ticket to Kibbutz Yavne. So there is where I lived while I was in Israel.
Eventually the president of the Kibbutz sent word that they wanted me to become a permanent member of the Kibbutz.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The FBI on Tuesday asked the U.S. Congress (TREASONOUS VIPERS of RED ESAU) for sweeping new powers to seize business or private records, ranging from medical information to book purchases, to investigate terrorism without first securing approval from a judge.

Valerie Caproni, FBI general counsel, told the U.S. Senate Intelligence Committee her agency needed the power to issue what are known as administrative subpoenas to get information quickly about terrorist plots and the activities of foreign agents.

Civil liberties groups have complained the subpoenas, which would cover medical, tax, gun-purchase, book purchase, travel and other records and could be kept secret, would give the FBI too much power and could infringe on privacy and free speech.

"This type of subpoena authority would allow investigators to obtain relevant information quickly in terrorism investigations, where time is often of the essence," Caproni testified.

The issue of administrative subpoenas dominated the hearing, which was called to discuss reauthorization of clauses of the USA Patriot Act due to expire at the end of this year.

However administrative subpoena power was not in the original law. The proposed new powers, long sought by the FBI, have been added by Republican lawmakers, acting on the wishes of the Bush administration, to the new draft of the USA Patriot Act.

Committee chairman, Kansas Sen. Pat Roberts, (TREASONOUS Blasphemous VIPER DOG of Noahide Law) noted that other government agencies already had subpoena power to investigate matters such as child pornography, drug investigations and medical malpractice. He said it made little sense to deny those same powers to the FBI to investigate terrorism or keep track of foreign intelligence agents.

But opponents said other investigations usually culminated in a public trial, whereas terrorism probes would likely remain secret and suspects could be arrested or deported or handed over to other countries without any public action.

Roberts intends to hold a closed meeting on Thursday, above the objections of some Democrats, to move the legislation forward out of his committee. But the provision still faces a long road before it becomes law, since the Senate Judiciary Committee also has jurisdiction over the bill, while the House of Representatives is drawing up its own legislation.

Under the proposed legislation, those served with subpoenas would have the right to challenge them in court. But civil liberties groups said few were likely to do so, and the person being investigated would be unlikely even to know that the FBI was seeking his personal records.

For example, if the FBI demanded a person's medical records from his doctor, the doctor could challenge the order if he wished, but the individual could not.

"Ordinary citizens are storing information not in their homes or even on portable devices but on networks, under the control of service providers who can be served with compulsory process and never have to tell the subscribers that their privacy has been invaded," said James Dempsey of the Center for Democracy, one of several groups opposing the provision

'Wall in capital could trigger war'

Speakers at a Hebrew University symposium on the separation barrier warned on Monday that the wall currently under construction in Jerusalem could undermine all hopes of peace and trigger a new war.

Rami Nassrallah, a member of the International Peace Cooperation Center, charged that the current route of the separation wall in Jerusalem is only the first stage in an alleged plan to split the Palestinian population in the area and create a "Jewish Jerusalem" rather than a "united Jerusalem."

Nassrallah warned that in the future Israel might build a fence which would only annex the Old City and the nearby Palestinian neighborhoods such as Sheikh Jarrah and the east Jerusalem commercial district.

"The government will tolerate a maximum of 100,000 Palestinians in [Israeli] Jerusalem," Nassrallah predicted. "Israelis will fall in love with this kind of separation, but it will mean the end of [any chance of] peace."

Kobi Michael, a researcher at the Jerusalem Institute for Israel Studies, said the institute had suggested several possible scenarios with regard to the consequences of the construction of the wall. "I call one of them the Fence War," he warned. "We could face war around and because of the fence."

Jerusalem attorney Danny Seidemann, head of the left-wing Ir Amim organization, said there was no way to divide a city of Jerusalem's size in a "good" way.

He said the current wall, with a few exceptions, was planned to follow the boundaries of Jerusalem that were established after the Six Day War, when large rural areas near Jerusalem in the West Bank were annexed to the city. But those borders were a fiction, he continued. There was no logic to them and they arbitrarily cut through villages and neighborhoods, officially separating some Palestinians from others. Now, he added, "Israel is turning the fiction of Jerusalem's borders into concrete."

Seidemann said some Israeli leaders tried to persuade the government to divide Jerusalem along demographic lines, but it rejected the idea. A total of 60,000 Palestinians who live within the Jerusalem city limits according to the official boundaries will end up on the West Bank side of the wall according to the current route.

Seidemann said he represented some of the Palestinians who have been shut out of the city and are fighting in court to get back in. It was not because they wanted to be part of Israel but because they were afraid they would become impoverished, as so many West Bank Palestinians are, if they were cut off from the city.

Seidemann rejected the government's claim that the separation barrier was a temporary measure and could be torn down as soon as Israel and the Palestinians agreed on their mutual borders. According to the construction plans for the E1 scheme in the area between Ma'aleh Adumim and Jerusalem, Israel intends to build massive housing along the route of the fence. The housing, he said, would be the real fence and it would be permanent.

Seidemann warned that the consequences of the fence could be disastrous for Israel. It could radicalize the Jerusalem Palestinian population, which has so far been relatively quiet; it could arouse international censure because of the humanitarian problems it causes the Palestinian population; and it could threaten the chances of a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian dispute

The smoothly rolling hills of the Smoky Mountains and a rainbow of fall colours provided the setting for the Eleventh Annual Noahide Conference, November 9-11 in Athens, Tennessee. Hosted by Noahide leader J. David Davis and his Emmanuel Congregation, the conference welcomed more than 100 people from across the United States and as far away as Australia. I flew down to continue a connection with the Noahides established when NISHMA and Jews for Judaism invited Mr. Davis to speak in Toronto in April, 1996. NISHMA brought Mr. Davis to Toronto because one of the organization's main research topics is the status of non-Jews within Judaism. My trip gave me new insight into the potential and challenges of the movement for both Noahides and Jews.

Noahides describe themselves as people who have embraced the Seven Laws of Noah as set out in the Torah and the Tractate Sanhedrin of the Talmud. Jewish Law defines them either as Bnei Noach or Gerim Toshavim. Almost all of the modern-day Noahides are former fundamentalist Christians (Fallen Away) who have rejected Christianity and the divinity of Jesus; Mr. Davis, a gregarious southerner and the de facto leader of the movement, is a former Baptist Minister.

The Noahides first received world-wide attention at the end of 1990, when Mr. Davis and members of his congregation removed the steeple from their church. This action -- declaring the steeple to be a pagan fertility symbol, chain-sawing it off and carting it to the dump -- created major waves in Athens, which is in the "buckle" of the American Bible Belt. Watching tapes of Mr. Davis on CNN and "Larry King Live" January, 1991, at the Torah Outreach Program in Jerusalem gave me my first glimpse of this movement, and left me with a deep fascination with it. Yet that much-publicized event was only one step in a journey that Mr. Davis had begun 17 years earlier, when he and some of his closest friends and colleagues decided to search for the historical Jesus and the religion that Jesus practised and preached. What they discovered was the Hebrew Bible and the path for righteous gentiles described in Jewish literature. Mr. Davis describes his search in Finding the G-d of Noah: The Spiritual Journey of a Baptist Minister from Christianity to the Laws of Noah, published by Ktav Press last July.

The concept of non-Jews turning to the Torah could be the current-day fulfilment of the Jewish belief that all nations will eventually worship the One G-d.

As Rabbi Asher Turin, NISHMA Issues #5 points out: "Therefore, Rabbi Moshe Chaim Luzzatto maintains that the prayer Aleinu, which speaks about the commitment of Israel to worship G-d, is not complete without the prayer Al Kein Nekaveh that states that we must pray that ... the entire world shall eventually recognize that only to Him should we pray and all will accept the yoke of His Kingdom and through this the purpose and reason of creation shall be complete...".

Thus, seeing the Noahide Laws embraced today by Mr. Davis and approximately 10,000 others around the world thrilled and deeply galvanized me. The same appeared to be true for at least some of the 400 people who heard Mr. Davis speak at Congregation Shaarei Shomayim in Toronto last April, and especially among those who also went to Mr. Davis's talk the next day that was directed to non-Jews. Many people were inspired by the genuine zeal of this non-Jew for the G-d of Israel and for the Torah.

Mr. Davis has also had a positive reception at yeshivot and other Jewish centres around the world; in fact he and the emerging Noahide movement were blessed by Rabbi Mordechai Eliyahu when he was Chief Sephardic Rabbi of Israel.

Yet there is also scepticism on the part of many Jews towards the Noahide movement. The uniqueness of the movement and its roots yields some of the hesitation. (Indeed the question often asked of Noahides, "Why don't you convert?" is a legitimate one.)

Because then how could the gods have 2800 goyim slaves, especially if all the saints Of Jesus the Christ are decapitated ? Duh

The scepticism also stems from the bloody history of Jewish-Christian relations, and from the tension between the popularly-held view that Jews are the sole possessors of the Torah (e.g., T.B. Avoda Zarah 2b,3a)

and the view that the Torah also provides a path of righteousness for non-Jews through the Seven Laws.

This tension is also evident in the above-noted dispute about the Jewish obligation to teach Torah to non-Jews. (Exploration of this tension is part of NISHMA's research into the relationship between Jews and non-Jews. See for example the article by Rabbi Turin and myself on whether Christianity is considered to be idolatrous, in the upcoming NISHMA Journal XI).

Notwithstanding the validity of this scepticism, it is also important to acknowledge genuine manifestations of Torah values and practices in all human endeavours. Thus, I went to the Noahide conference as an expression of support for the values behind the movement. The trip also helped me gauge whether there is any gap, and if so how large it is, between Orthodox Jewish beliefs and those of the Noahides.

I spoke during and after the meeting with Rabbi Israel Chait (the Rosh Yeshivah of Yeshivat B'Nai Torah in Far Rockaway, New York, and the current teacher of Mr. Davis and his congregants) to get his feedback on the conference, the movement as a whole, and its key players.

Presentations included The G-d-Fearers in the Second Temple Period by Mr. Davis and Pharisees and Sadducees by Rabbi Chait. Mr. Davis's stated goal in selecting this theme was to develop a set of materials to answer the daily queries he receives about this period.

This goal was achieved: an updated "Emmanuel Resource Catalog" has already been published that includes audio- and videotapes of all of the conference presentations. There was also a lot of positive discussion about the path to G-d that the Torah provides for Bnei Noach.

Yet the meeting's focus and content also highlighted two challenges that have to be recognized and grappled with -- both by Noahides and Jews -- in order for a fruitful relationship to continue between our two communities.

Both of those challenges were evident in the presentations of James Tabor. Dr. Tabor is an associate professor of religion at North Carolina University and is generally thought of as the most academic of the Noahide leaders.

Dr. Tabor's first talk was on Messianism in the Dead Sea Scrolls (Hoax) and the Second Temple Period (Abominations) and his last talk dealt with Redemptive Figures: Past, Present and Future. The content of both talks pointed, first of all, to the fact that, while Dr. Tabor does not believe in the divinity of Jesus, he has a strong personal identification with him and his followers.

Tabor clearly is more focused on Jesus and other redemptive figures than most of his fellow Noahides. While many of them view Jesus in a positive light (as an observant Jew (No Jew of creation, the CREATOR) who tried to spread the message of Torah to the world),

they make it clear that they view Christianity's deification of Jesus as blasphemy.

Yet their positive attitude towards the human being Jesus clearly presents a challenge to the Jewish world. Jews have such a strong negative emotional reaction to Jesus that we recoil from any positive statements about Jesus (even about his having been an observant Jew).

This reaction is not just emotional; Jesus has been solidly denounced in mainstream Jewish writings for 2,000 years.

But should the feelings of a non-Jew towards the historical human being Jesus concern us, as long as the non-Jew doesn't violate the prohibition against idolatry? The positive association some Noahides have towards the historical Jesus should not make Jews break ties with the entire movement.

But it is important to address this issue by further investigating the philosophical parameters involved.

The second issue evinced by Dr. Tabor's talks poses an even greater challenge. His views are strongly Sadduceic (i.e., they rely only on the authority of the Written Law, not on that of the Oral Law) and his presentations were almost completely supported by sources in the Tenakh rather than the Talmud.

This view is shown further in Dr. Tabor's writings, such as the "Prof. James D. Tabor Message" in the Spring 1996 issue of the United Israel Bulletin, the newspaper of the United Israel World Union. This movement, started by David Horowitz, has the slogans Mosaic Law for One World and Restoration, Unity, Peace.

Dr. Tabor is a vice-president of the movement. In point 2 of his message on page 2 of the Bulletin, Dr. Tabor writes, "That TORAH should be in conformity to the original Word from Mt. Sinai; heeding the warning of Moshe: you shall not add to or take from."

Most of the Noahides have a Sadduceic outlook, to a lesser or greater extent. The topic of the Oral Law came up frequently in one-on-one discussions that I, Rabbi Chait and other Jews had with Noahides. The Noahides do accept the Oral Torah at some level, by definition -- the Seven Laws of Noah are only elucidated in the Talmud. It is clear, however, that they have not fully accepted the authority of the Oral Torah, nor of rabbis as guardians of Halacha.

This attitude should neither be completely surprising nor disturbing. The vast majority of the Noahides were educated in the fundamentalist stream of the Protestant Church, which has very strong Sadduceic roots.

This Sadduceic approach to the acceptance of the validity of the Tenakh was, in fact, their basis for rejecting the authority of the 'New Testament' and Christianity.

It may therefore not be reasonable to expect the Noahides to quickly change tacks and follow the Orthodox Jewish view that the Oral Law is necessary to understand and interpret the Written Law.

It should be noted that there are important halachic opinions forbidding the study of the Oral Law by non-Jews (but allowing the study of the Written Law;

see Rabbi J. David Bleich, Contemporary Halakhic Problems, Chapter XVI, "Teaching Torah to Non-Jews"). This matter does demand further investigation, however, because it could create a large philosophical chasm between the Noahides and Orthodox Jewry. These, therefore, are the current challenges for Jews and non-Jews: David Davis and the Noahide movement have the challenge of continuing their brave and very public journey away from Christianity and into new religious territory.

G-d willing, they will also continue to strive for a fuller understanding of Jewish law and its application to Bnei Noach. In the process, they may come to more fully accept Rabbinic Judaism. For Jews, one challenge is to appreciate the universality of Judaism. Another challenge is to arrive at a better collective (Shemborg collective) articulation of the origin, mechanics and validity of the Oral Torah. This process will benefit our relations with the Noahides. It will also positively impact our own community since many of us have only a vague understanding of the very heart of Judaism: the halachic process.
