WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Jack Abramoff said in correspondence made public on
Thursday that President Bush met him "almost a dozen" times, disputing
White House claims Bush did not know the former lobbyist
at the center of a corruption scandal.
"The guy saw me in almost a dozen settings, and
joked with me about a bunch of things, including details of my kids. Perhaps he
has forgotten everything, who knows," Abramoff wrote in an e-mail to Kim
Eisler, national editor for the Washingtonian magazine.
Abramoff added that Bush also once invited him to his

The messages were made public by the American Progress Action Fund, a liberal
activist group. Eisler confirmed their accuracy to Reuters but said he did not
intend them to become public.
"They reflect the feeling of frustration he has not just with Bush but
with all these guys claiming they didn't know him," said Eisler, who knew
Abramoff through a book he wrote about the Pequot Indian tribe.
Abramoff pleaded guilty to fraud charges in early January and is cooperating
with prosecutors in a corruption probe that could implicate lawmakers and
officials across Washington.
Bush has said he never had a discussion with Abramoff and does not remember
having his picture taken with him.
The White House has said Abramoff attended three
Hanukkah receptions at the White House.
Eisler said he had seen five photographs of Abramoff with Bush, none taken at
White House spokesman Scott McClellan said on Thursday that the revelations
did not prove Bush knew him well.
"I think as the president also indicated, he's taken at least five
photos with many people in this room at the annual holiday reception. And so I
think you need to put this in context," McClellan said.
Abramoff spokesman Andrew Blum declined to comment.
Abramoff raised more than $100,000 for Bush's 2004 re-election campaign, a
feat that won him an invitation to Bush's ranch in August 2003, the National
Journal reported at the time.
"I was invited during the 2004 campaign," Abramoff told Eisler.
Abramoff said he did not make the trip because as an Orthodox Jew he cannot
travel on Saturdays.
In the wake of Abramoff's indictment, the Bush-Cheney campaign said it would
donate to charity $6,000 in contributions made by Abramoff or his clients, but
not the money he helped raise.
The White House has acknowledged he participated in a few staff-level
meetings at the White House.
Although the Abramoff scandal has mostly focused attention so far on
prominent House Republicans, including former Majority Leader Tom DeLay of
Texas, at least two Bush administration officials have been implicated.
David Safavian, a former White House budget official, has been charged with
lying and obstructing investigations into his 2002 golf outing to Scotland with

White House seeking a retraction from NYT: Bush was 'on vacation in Texas'
Fri Feb 10 2006 09:46:25 ET
NEW YORK TIMES’ Eric Lipton today writes that President Bush was “on
vacation in Texas” on August 30th but their own reporter filed a pool report
that day from San Diego where POTUS giving a speech on the War on Terror and
was visiting soldiers and families of the fallen. Sources tell DRUDGE that the
original story filed by Lipton did not contain the sentence about Bush being
on vacation and that it was added by an editor.
The White House is seeking a retraction.
Pool Report #2 (from August 30, 2005) Chaos briefly reigned. After conducting
an interview with the Armed Forces Radio and Television Service at a cargo
plane hangar near the previous event, President Bush arrived at the Naval
Medical Center San Diego on schedule, and proceded to the first event, a
meeting with health care providers that was supposed to last a half hour and
include a photo op at the bottom. Instead, moments after arrival, the pool was
rushed to the door and told the photo op would take place immediately. Then,
just as suddenly, it was canceled without explanation. Minutes later – about
an hour ahead of schedule, and equally suddenly – the pool was rounded up
and rushed back to the motorcade for departure. It is now 11:21 AM local time
and we are heading toward the airport. More to come.

Bush Plays Terror Card With
Bogus LA Attack Plot
Bootlicking news networks follow suit with dramatic
images of Library Tower being destroyed
Joseph Watson/Prison Planet.com | February 10 2006
In an orchestrated set-up, George W. Bush announced that
a plan to fly a plane into the LA Library Tower was
thwarted in 2002 and within minutes news networks were showing footage of the
same building being destroyed in the movie Independence Day.
Bush stated that the attack was prevented only with the
help of NSA surveillance of communications, an attempt to shut up critics of the
spying scandal in a move about as sophisticated as a 300lb Pittsburgh Steelers
fan after a heavy drinking session.
The mayor of Los Angeles, Antonio Villaraigosa,

"I'm amazed that the president would make this
(announcement) on national TV and not inform us of these details through the
appropriate channels," the mayor said in an interview with The Associated
Press. "I don't expect a call from the president — but somebody."
Within minutes of the President's speech, news
networks were showing images from the movie Independence Day (pictured),
where the Library Tower is destroyed as part of the alien invasion.
We have to understand that the Mayor being completely
oblivious to the supposed terror plot most likely means
that it was completely invented by Karl Rove and his fellow scriptwriters.
That meant that a target had to be chosen and they chose the Library
Tower knowing full well that news networks would show images of it being
destroyed from the movie Independence Day.
In the mind of the passive viewer this information enters
the brain as if it is real, and they suspend disbelief to embrace the notion
that the building was destroyed by terrorists. This residue remains in the
viewer's psyche and the validity of the government's response to the 'attack,'
in this instance passing the soon
to expire Patriot Act and justifying spying on Americans, is unquestionable.
This isn't another tin-foil hat conspiracy theory, the suggestibility
of television is a scientific fact that has been accepted for decades.
This represents an organized campaign of mind control and
fearmongering. They have played the terror card so many times that the
fingerprints of deception can be lifted and verified almost immediately.

If the government has really thwarted an attack on LA you
can bet your bottom dollar that they would have waved it in front of the
anti-war crowd's face before invading Iraq in March 2003.
This is as obvious a political points scoring move as
you're ever going to see. It has been deliberately and synthetically concocted
to stifle heated criticism of the NSA spying.
This, despite the fact that the spying debate still
circles around foreign phone calls, when the real issue is the admitted fact
that the Pentagon and other government agencies have been caught and continue to
